He serves as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) in London (2017-2020) and has also served as a member of the CIArb’s Board of Management. He has been a member of a number of domestic and international arbitral panels and has been involved in 100 alternative dispute resolution (ADR) processes either at hearing or by giving pre-hearing advice involving sums ranging from small consumer disputes to multi-million commercial disputes.

Barrister Dowling-Hussey is also listed as an Arbitrator on the Global Arbitration Review’s Arbitration Research Tool (ART) and has been recognised by Finance Monthly as ‘Lawyer of the Year’ in Ireland for 2017 and ‘ADR Lawyer of the Year’ in 2018.

He is an associate lecturer of law at Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen working on their arbitration courses whilst remaining in full time practice as a Barrister and Arbitrator. He is also a visiting professor at Business and Law School in Lahore.

Barrister Dowling-Hussey is the co-author of the leading Irish textbook Arbitration Law (Round Hall, Dublin, 2008 and 2014). This title is presently being revised with the 3rd edition to be issued soon. He is also the Co-Editor of Construction, Engineering & Energy Law Journal of Ireland.
