Certificate in International Trade Law
Course Aims:
This course focuses on a range of topics in International Trade Law. The first aspect is International Economic Law, considering the economic and institutional context of world trade, including the World Trade Organisation (WTO).
A second aspect is the law of International Trade, including issues in carriage of goods by sea and documentary credits.

The third strand of the course is concerned with International Sales Agreements, considering different contract regimes, individual business agreements in an international context. Issues of governing law and jurisdiction are also addressed. These topics aim to provide a solid grounding in the practice of international business law.

Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this Course, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate a systematic understanding of the role and function of world trading institutions including the WTO
- Apply knowledge of the substantive law and practice of international trade, combining an overview of the subject and in-depth knowledge of specialist areas, to identify issues and produce effective solutions.
- Demonstrate an understanding of international business agreements, their terms, use and negotiation.
- Identify and evaluate issues concerning jurisdiction and circumstances in which litigation, arbitration or Alternative Dispute Resolution may be appropriate.
- Work effectively in a group or team and allocate and integrate tasks.
